The Chubbs Peterson Comeback You Didn’t Know You Needed
Stephanie Kimmell
Okay, listen up. If you grew up on Happy Gilmore — and you know who you are — then you already get why Chubbs Peterson is the unforgettable mentor figure.
Carl Weathers with a wooden hand? Iconic. A guy who got wrecked by an alligator but still drops wisdom like a boss? Priceless.
SilencerCo just dropped a video that’s basically a love letter to Chubbs — except now he’s coaching folks on rifle golf instead of putts. Yeah, rifle golf. Sounds silly on paper. Feels righteous when you watch it.
Chubbs: The One-Liners, the Vibe, the Lesson
Chubb Peterson’s the no-BS sensei who says, “You know, this is not real smart, kid,” and then turns around and teaches you to calm the chaos: “It’s all in the hips.”
In the movie, that’s golf. Here? That’s a 400-yard rifle shot. Same mental game. Same focus. Same grin when someone lands the shot.

This isn’t Shooter McGavin’s country club. We brought the crew, our putters (suppressed guns!), and a bucket of chaos to run our 2nd dealer appreciation Happy Gilmore–inspired Rifle Golf Tournament.
And when we say “dealer appreciation,” we’re not talking a lukewarm handshake and stale hotel sandwich. Think full-auto mag dumps, wild hog hunts under thermal, serious eats, and even better company—under the wide Oklahoma sky at Side x Side Ranch.

Weekend Highlights
Day 1 kicks off before sunrise with golf carts rolling out like a convoy—coolers stashed, rods ready. First order? The fishing tournament, landing a single bass, some catfish, and a turtle, of course. There’s a little time for putt-putt before dinner and awards.
Trophies? Chubbs’ wooden hands—glue marks and all—mounted with a SilencerCo logo and “2nd Annual Chubbs Peterson Memorial Rifle Golf Tournament.” Awards like the Mulligan Cup, Happy Gilmore Boomstick, McGavin Golden Trigger, and more make for some solid bragging rights.

But all of this is just the pre-game. The warmup lap before the real fun begins.
As darkness falls, we hit the night hunt. This is where the gear starts to shine. A Remington 700 in .308 with a (discontinued) Saker 762 suppressor and night vision optic sets the tone.
Shotguns take the stage next. Beretta 1301 Tactical and Benelli Ethos models wear Salvo 12 suppressors, with different baffle configurations chewing through shells. Rimfires roll in with a chocolate chip camo Charter Arms AR-7 and Sparrow 22 can, and a precision Volquartsen Superlite matched with a full-length Switchback 22. A 9mm PCC with a sleek Spectre 9 keeps the flow, looping back to those small-bore favorites to round out the day’s lineup.

Day 2 is all Rifle Golf. Scorecards carry the message “Rest In Peace Chubbs Peterson,” and the SilencerCo crew wears the same hockey shirt Happy wears in the movie—game faces on.

A suppressed .300 BLK ZEV AR-15 with MML handguard and full Scythe STM kicks off the shots. Calibers bounce between .22 LR and 9mm up to 6mm Creedmoor and .338 ARC, mixing semi-autos, bolts, and scatterguns like a curated playlist. Bolt guns flash prototypes and custom mounts, while pistols like the Staccato P and ZEV OZ9 V2 Elite run low-profile cans like S98 and Spectre 9K.

After a break for more putt putt, we’re back at it full-on with serious firepower. We have a belt-fed FN M249s rumble alongside a Daniel Defense MK18 and ZEV FDP. Mag dumps spit brass everywhere, the steady thunder of suppressed power.
Why This Matters: It’s All About the Vibe
This isn’t just a tournament; it’s a celebration of skill, camaraderie, and a nod to the OG mentor who knew it’s “all in the hips.” Chubbs taught Happy Gilmore to find his calm, line up the shot, and most importantly—don’t putt angry.
SilencerCo nails that energy, mixing slapstick with serious skill, turning rifle golf into a thing, and throwing in all the gear flex we love.
This is a weekend where you shoot hard, laugh harder, and maybe learn a thing or two about keeping your cool when the pressure’s on.
