10mm Suppressor Setup: Stribog SP10A3 + Hybrid 46M

I recently paired my 10mm Grand Power Stribog SP10A3 with the SilencerCo Hybrid 46M suppressor. Five years ago, I wouldn’t have paid any attention to a 10mm PCC, let alone a suppressed one. But then I stumbled across a 10mm handgun for a good price and decided to give it a try. Since then, I have been a big fan of 10mm. While it has some advantages as a handgun round, a 10mm PCC is an awesome combination.
A few years ago, I added the SP10A3 to my inventory and it has become one of my go-to PCCs for self-defense. But until now, I had never used it with a suppressor. Adding the Hybrid 46M is a night and day difference that resulted in a quiet, flat-shooting sub-gun system.
Here’s the short version: it’s one of the best suppressed PCC setups I’ve run, and here’s why the 10mm cartridge, the Stribog SP10A3, and the Hybrid 46M work so well together as a PCC / 10mm suppressor combo.
The Resurgence and Power of the 10mm Auto
Developed in the early 1980s, the 10mm Auto was engineered to deliver flatter trajectories and higher kinetic energy than standard service calibers. While the cartridge saw a brief stint with federal law enforcement, it didn’t really take off like some expected. Over time, it became more popular in the outdoors/hunting world than with law enforcement.
The 10mm cartridge is great for defending yourself from large predators like bears. It also works great for hunting medium-size game, if you’re into handgun hunting. Out of a handgun barrel, the muzzle energy from a standard 10mm load is comparable to a .357 Magnum. When fired from a longer sub-gun barrel, the cartridge gains significant velocity, which increases its “punch.”
Over the past few years, 10mm appears to be making a comeback, much like .300 Blackout has with rifles. There are a lot of options for bullet grain and velocity, depending on what you’re using it for. Heavier 200+ grain bullets do shed some velocity, and manufacturers sell purpose-built subsonic loads in that weight range specifically for suppressor use — more on how that plays out of this particular barrel length below.
Grand Power Stribog SP10A3
Slovakian manufacturer Grand Power became popular when they released the original direct-blowback Stribog series. Over time, Grand Power introduced roller-delayed operating systems as part of the Stribog lineup. Using a roller-delayed blowback system works great with 10mm Auto, .45 ACP, and even 9mm.
Direct-blowback sub-guns firing 10mm require massive, heavy bolts and stiff recoil springs to manage chamber pressures safely. The only problem with this design choice is it leads to snappy recoil and heavy muzzle rise. The roller-delayed system in the SP10A3 mechanically delays the rearward movement of the bolt. This delay allows chamber pressure to drop safely before the action opens again.
The result is a softer, smoother-shooting gun with reduced bolt “bounce.” It also makes the gun more reliable when using varying types and brands of ammunition.
The Stribog is built with a hard-anodized aluminum upper receiver, an 8-inch barrel, and ambidextrous controls. I’ve owned both the 10mm and 9mm versions and have been impressed with their reliability.

Benefits of Suppressing 10mm
There is a lot of “bang” that comes with a 10mm gunshot. That is to say, it’s a loud caliber when firing from a shorter barrel like the Stribog. If you happen to be shooting indoors or in a wooded area, it’s even worse. Adding a 10mm suppressor provides multiple benefits, but for this set-up, I just wanted it a little quieter.
Here are some of the benefits of suppressing 10mm Auto:
- Reducing Blast and Concussion: The Hybrid 46M does a great job reducing muzzle blast and that sharp “crack” that’s typical of high-pressure rounds.
- Flatter Shooting and Less Muzzle Climb: Suppressors act as efficient muzzle weights and internal gas baffles, reducing muzzle rise during rapid strings of fire.
- Subsonic Options: Purpose-built subsonic 200- to 220-grain loads are available if you want a fully suppressed signature.
Is a Suppressed 10mm Stribog Still Loud?
Yes, relatively — 10mm is a high-pressure cartridge, and no suppressor turns it into a whisper. Here’s what I can tell you from the range, unscientific as it is:
The sound reduction felt about the same as adding a suppressor to a .300 Blackout. It’s not “whisper” quiet — few 10mm suppressor setups are, given the cartridge’s chamber pressure — but it was quiet enough that I could remove my hearing protection without it hurting my ears. None of the three loads I ran that day were subsonic-rated, so the crack I heard was the expected sound of a supersonic 10mm round breaking the sound barrier, not a shortcoming of the Hybrid 46M itself.
SilencerCo Hybrid 46M
With a bore diameter handling projectiles up to .458 caliber, the Hybrid 46M easily accommodates the .400-inch 10mm bullet. It is constructed from titanium, 17-4 stainless steel, Cobalt 6, and Inconel, so it can easily withstand the pressures of the Stribog SP10A3.
The Hybrid 46M also has modular length options. You can use it in a compact 5.78-inch short configuration for maneuverability, or in the 7.72-inch full configuration for maximum sound suppression.
Because the Stribog SP10A3 has a fixed barrel, you don’t need a pistol booster assembly. You can mount the Hybrid 46M directly using a Charlie ASR Mount and ASR muzzle device. You can also use a Charlie Direct Thread Mount if you don’t want to add a muzzle device to the barrel.

On the Range With the Stribog / Hybrid 46M Combo
Heading to the range reminded me of another reason I like the Stribog and the ASR mounting system. Instead of taking a rifle case, I fit everything I needed into a medium-size backpack. Because the pistol brace folds over on the Stribog, the overall length drops to about 18 inches. The ASR mount makes it easy to add or remove the suppressor and stash it in a side pocket of the backpack.
Just for fun, I timed myself “deploying” it from the bag. Starting with the backpack on, I removed the Stribog, flipped open the brace, attached the Hybrid 46M, inserted a mag, and fired my first shot in about 14 seconds. Sure, with a concealed handgun this process can be done in less than 2 seconds. But for this specific set-up, that’s not bad at all.
For my range session, I used three different loads of 10mm ammo: Federal Syntech Range ammo at 205 grain, PMC Bronze at 200 grain, and 200-grain Federal PUNCH Personal Defense. If I’m going to use a specific setup, I like to put some ammo through it to make sure there are no issues. I also wanted to see if the difference in sound was noticeable with the Hybrid 46M attached. I’m pleased to say it was.
I fired about 200 rounds with the full-length Hybrid 46M and then another 200 rounds with the removable section off the suppressor. Honestly, I couldn’t tell much of a difference in sound, though I’m sure it was a bit louder with the front portion removed.
After running a few drills with the new combo, I fired a few boxes of the personal defense ammo just to make sure the hollow-point tips wouldn’t cause any cycling issues. Everything ran through the setup without a hitch.
After shooting for a while, I started to notice the added weight from the suppressor on the Stribog. But that’s to be expected with any suppressed firearm. For the size and quality of the can, it’s not brutally heavy, but it does add weight and length to the overall footprint of the gun.
Fun, Quiet, and Worth the Setup
The easiest way to sum up the Stribog and Hybrid 46M is to say it was a blast to shoot. I’m kind of excited to try this suppressor on some other firearms now and see how it performs there. It’s about as close to an all-in-one suppressor as you’ll find for the guns already in your safe — light, modular, and it just works.
